NYAMA 2024 Annual Advocacy Day at State Capital a Success!

Aviation industry leaders from around New York State traveled to Albany to discuss the importance of a strong aviation industry and its contribution to economic growth. About forty members of the New York Aviation Management Association, including ten students from Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology in East Elmhurst, gathered at the State Capital for two days (February 13-14) to meet with legislators to advocate for the state’s airports and the aviation industries.

New York has a Legislative Aviation Caucus of nearly 100 legislators that represent airports, aviation workers and communities served by airports who share a common interest in promoting the state’s aviation sector. The Caucus is led by Co-Chairs Senator Monica Martinez and Assemblymember Donna Lupardo.

NYAMA, the Voice of Aviation in New York since 1976, met with legislators to promote increased state investment in airports and pro-aviation legislation and policies. Funding through the Upstate Airport Economic Development and Revitalization Initiative and the Aviation Capital Grant Program play an important role in the state’s economy and job development efforts.

“NYAMA’s Advocacy Day was a huge success,” said Mark Heefner, C.M., President of NYAMA and Commissioner of Aviation for the Greater Binghamton Airport. “NYAMA members met with over 60 legislators and staff at a crucial time during budget negotiations and we made substantial progress on our priority issues aimed at growing the aviation industry and creating jobs in New York.” I want to thank every member of NYAMA for their support of our Advocacy Day as well as our state elected officials and policymakers for their continued support for aviation in New York,” Heefner concluded.
